The good ol’ US of A is known for a lot of majestic things. Many people come to this country for its spectacular views, famous cities, work opportunities, and historical sights. However, there are some things that not all tourists (or even citizens) are aware of. Namely, the outstanding outdoor adventure opportunities.
Off-Road Trips to Get Your Blood Pumping
Before proceeding on these perilous “roads,” we recommend you get your gear from a certified seller of off-road vehicle parts, or a U.S.A.-based UTV store to get the best value guaranteed.
Without further ado, we present to you the best off-road trails that you can get your ATV, UTV, or SUV on for a bumpy yet joyful ride!
Rubicon Trail, California
The Rubicon Trail. A name so iconic that Julius Caesar had to cross it. Ok, it’s not that one, but we promise that the US Rubicon is just as enticing for adventurers as the ancient Rubicon was for the historic figure.
While it’s not exactly the longest trail, it’s certainly left its mark on many Jeep owners with its 22 miles of sheer off-road beauty. It cuts through the El Dorado National Forest as well as the Tahoe National Forest and boasts some extremely challenging terrain.
White Rim Trail, Utah
Utah’s famous sandstone arches are something to behold indeed. You’ll also get some impressive views of the towers, buttes, Indian ruins, as well as the Colorado and Green rivers. It’s impressive, to say the least.
However, just like any desert trail, we recommend bringing plenty of water with you. And if you’re feeling especially adventurous, you could also undertake this passage with a bike — though we don’t recommend doing so under any circumstances, and especially not if you are a total beginner.
Alpine Loop Trail, Colorado
Getting to the Alpine Loop Trail itself can be quite a challenge. It’s not as simple as heading five hours southwest of Denver until you reach Lake City then making a right turn. Some would argue that the road from the nearest city to there is tricky itself. However, once you reach the trail, you’ll be amazed.
There are numerous vistas to glance at, you’ll be traveling through several ghost towns where you can stop and take some selfies, and you’ll be glad to hear that most of the trail is suitable for 2WD vehicles. Still, you’ll need a 4x4 with high ground clearance if you want to get on top of the best views.
Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route
A UTV, ATV, or motorcycle would be perfect for this route. The Backcountry Discovery Route takes from near Arizona’s Mexican border all the way to its upper border with Utah. Heck, you might even be able to jump from this route to the White Rim Trail that we discussed earlier.
Anyway, you’ll be encountering a lot of stuff along this route, namely historic sites, deep sand, Saguaro cacti, and more desert than you can probably imagine. At one point, you’ll also come across the Navajo Nation as well as the Colorado River Canyon.
Magruder Road Corridor, Idaho & Montana
Steep, winding, even primitive — that’s how some people have described this natural beauty. The 117-mile Magruder Road Corridor was named after Lloyd Magruder who got murdered along the road in 1863 along with other people that were traveling alongside him.
You’ll be witness to stunning vistas, lush valleys, and rushing rivers along this gorgeous corridor, and you’ll also have a lot of primitive sites where you can camp, as there is no shortage of those along the trail.
